While it’s a great business model, there are a few potential issues that might make it a less optimal choice for some people.

So what makes it a great choice?

If you don’t have the money to start a store traditionally, but you are
really passionate about starting one, it’s a great option.

If you don’t have the time or ability to store and manage inventory, or
you don’t want to deal with packing and shipping orders yourself, it’s a
great option.

If you’re looking for a way to get started as quickly as possible, it’s a
great option.

If your ultimate goal is to create a profitable site quickly and sell it,
it’s a great option.

Okay, now that we know some scenarios in which it WOULD be a good choice,
what are some of the things that might NOT make it a good option for you?

Well, if you can afford to start traditionally, buying all your inventory upfront, and you have the ability and desire to handle inventory control,
warehousing, packing, and shipping on your own, it’s probably a good idea to just go that route.

In other words, if you CAN do it without drop shipping, you probably should.

That’s not to say drop shipping is a bad business model. It just has a few
potential problems that you could run into that you wouldn’t experience if
you just bought and managed your own inventory.
